Accessibility statement

This statement applies to content published on the www.rdash.nhs.uk domain. This website is run by Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

RDaSH want all of our services to be inclusive and this includes our website. We want to make our information as accessible as we can to all visitors to our site and have designed it with this in mind.

The text should be clear and simple to understand. You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 300% without problems
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • use most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

How accessible this website is

Parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • some tables do not have row headings
  • our policy section contains legacy PDF and Microsoft Word documents. We are currently reviewing these and have a plan to convert every policy document into HTML (web) format by June 2024
  • some external content is embedded in our website, such as YouTube videos, and you cannot easily scale these on screen (but you can open a full screen version). We also have no control over the accessibility of their video controls
  • Google Translate is provided for visitors to our site who may have English as a second language. It is not a total replacement for translation services but as an aid to allow users to quickly access basic service information

Each team that publishes content on the www.rdash.nhs.uk site is responsible for making sure it meets the accessibility regulations. We will update the statement when issues are fixed or when we expect them to be fixed.

This website is partially compliant with the web content accessibility guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  1. Some pages have poor colour contrast. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.1 (use of colour).
  2. Many documents are in less accessible formats, for example PDF. Non-HTML documents published on or after 23 September 2018 must have an accessible format.

PDFs and non-HTML documents

Many documents are not accessible in a number of ways including missing text alternatives and missing document structure. We are reviewing these as a priority and plan to replace them all by June 2024.

RDaSH are committed to accessibility and have engaged with external experts to provide guidance and training to our staff.
