Bus promotes health and wellbeing at Lakeside

The Health Bus proved a popular attraction with shoppers when it parked up at Lakeside Village Shopping Outlet.

The Doncaster Learning Disabilities Health Action Team, which is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), took the bus out to bring health advice and support to local people with a learning disability and their carers.

Acute Liaison Nurse Glynis Smith said: “The Health Bus really captured the attention of shoppers and we had two fabulous days!

“We went out and about to promote cancer screening and improve the uptake for people with learning disabilities, as this is traditionally low.

“Over 150 people with a learning disability visited us for information, so it’s been a great success and reminds us of what we love about our job!”
