Roger’s hair raising adventure for teammate

It was hair today, gone tomorrow for an NHS health worker in Scunthorpe who braved a sponsored head shave, chest and armpit wax for a teammate and her family.

Roger Mounsey, Charge Nurse at Great Oaks Mental Health Unit, faced the shears and wax strips to raise funds for Rachel Morrison who was diagnosed with cancer in January.

Roger said: “We are very close nit team and when we heard the news about Rachel we wanted to show just how much we care about her.

“She’s currently facing her hardest battle against cancer and it’s been a very tough journey for her. Travelling to and from hospital appointments can be pricey and she has a young family that’s why we wanted to do something to help.

“I had my chest waxed as well as the head shave and raised £400. I also braved having both armpits waxed for a donation of £25 per armpit. I can honestly say that it was certainly worth it.”

Rachel’s friends and colleagues on Laurel Ward have called themselves #TeamRachel and are on a mission to raise £2,000.
