A Doncaster service that supports the recovery of people from alcohol and drug problems is attending the Bentley Bonanza Community Gala on Sunday July 14.
The team of staff and volunteers from Aspire Drug and Alcohol Service will be in Bentley Park between 1pm and 5pm. They will be encouraging residents to call by their stall and find out about the support available to people and families experiencing drug and alcohol issues. Visitors can also find out about the ways to drink safely and/ or to limit their alcohol levels.
They also want to capture the views of residents on how services provided by Aspire and other health organisations support the health and wellbeing of the local community in a bid to create a recovery town.
Stuart Green, Aspire Drug and Alcohol Service Manager, said: “We are looking forward to meeting as many people as possible at the Bentley Gala. We are particularly interested to know about the good things that are happening in their community. We will feed these views into our Inclusive and Recovery Cities work to benefit the whole area. Please call in and meet the team.”
Recovery Cities is a joint scheme between Aspire Drug and Alcohol Service with The University of Sheffield. It focuses on the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to well communities by identifying community strengths to sustain, benefit and support the recovery of individuals and those around them.
Visitors attending the event will also have the opportunity to take part in a fun giant inflatable competitive game ahead of the forthcoming Recovery Games on August 16 at Hatfield Activity Centre.
Aspire Drug and Alcohol Service is run by this Trust in partnership with registered charity The Drug & Alcohol Service (ADS). It provides specialist detox and rehabilitation service for those experiencing health and wellbeing problems with long term drug and alcohol. Aspire also provide support for families and has a satellite hub at the Jade Centre in Bentley.
