Championing community engagement

People in South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire are set to benefit from a new partnership between the NHS and the community which aims to boost the engagement opportunities for local people to become more involved in their NHS services.

We have teamed up with the People Focused Group (PFG), in a new Participation Partner pilot scheme. As the Trust’s first Participation Partner the PFG, a well-established peer support community group in Doncaster, will expand its engagement expertise and knowledge into the communities of Rotherham and North Lincolnshire.

The PFG will work closely with the Trust’s Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Participation Team. Together they will engage with and encourage people to share their experiences of accessing and using the Trust’s services.

Kathryn Singh, Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted that we will be working more closely with the People Focused Group. We continually strive to put the patient at the heart of everything we do. Engaging more with the very people who use our services and learning from their experiences by finding out what matters to them will help us to provide the best care possible.”

The 18 month Participation Partnership scheme will start in mid-September 2020.

Glyn Butcher, from the People Focused Group, said: “We are pleased to be involved with a forward thinking organisation. We believe that patient, carer and public involvement is essential to the health and success of everyone. People want to be engaged in their care and offer their views. As Participation Partner we will be adding our wealth of experience of community engagement to enhance the services that RDaSH provides.”
