I volunteer because:
“I became a Governor initially because I really did feel press-ganged into it, although I will admit to a mild curiosity as to what it was all about.
“As I was asked and prodded by so many people I now think they must have seen some qualities in me that I didn’t.
“Since becoming a Governor I realise that I do have a wider knowledge of dementia than many other people as I am active and heavily involved in that sphere.
“This makes it a case of give and take in both directions, with my shared knowledge becoming a two-way process.
“As some of my dementia work is on the Tickhill Road Hospital site that gives me and the senior management more frequent contact, which is advantageous for both sides.”
