When patients arrive at Swallownest Court, ward staff help them settle in by introducing themselves, showing them around and making them aware of their rights.
All rooms are private with en-suite toilet and shower facilities. Patients also have their own lockable safe in their room for personal possessions.
On the ward patients have access to lounge and activity areas, and there is a separate ladies’ lounge.
Patients are invited to take part in regular activities which are organised by therapy and ward staff, and there is also a good selection of games and books available.
There are also rooms available to talk to staff individually, and for any religious or spiritual needs.
All of the wards have access to external courtyards, which can be used during the day and evenings.
The gym is available most days, with a ladies only gym session once a week.
Patients can be referred to the gym by their nurse, doctor, or occupational therapist. The physiotherapist visits patients before they start attending the gym.
