What is consultation?

TRS Consultation is a dedicated space for thinking about a survivor and or family with whom you are working. You may already feel clear about what your task or goal is with this person, however seeking consultation with TRS staff can bring added rich experience and expert knowledge and can help you to view things from a different perspective or see the picture through a different lens.

A varied range of key workers and support staff currently bring specific requests or questions to the TRS team for consultation, but this isn’t always the case, sometimes key workers want to talk through their own experiences of the work that they are doing in order to help them to reflect on their own feelings and on their intervention.

TRS understand that key workers may regularly be directly exposed to trauma, grief, loss, suffering and pain on a daily basis therefore accessing forums such as consultation and peer supervision can help to manage the emotional impact of the work and increase their overall resilience.

Consultation contributes to a wider trauma informed system across Rotherham which in turn leads to a cooperative and joint working approach that reduces fragmentation across service boundaries and increases successful engagement and positive outcomes for survivors and their families.
