Children and Young People’s Epilepsy Specialist Nursing Service

The children and young people’s Epilepsy Specialist Nursing service aims to improve care by:

1)      Providing education around epilepsy to clients and families, in order to help them become expert in their condition. Similar education can also be tailored to suit educational, voluntary or other  organisations to help them meet the needs of the child/young person.

2)      There are regular reviews of care for all clients which include medication reviews, management of side effects and prescribing as necessary. Review frequency and care in general is agreed by negotiation with the young person and family. Outcomes of review appointments are passed on to your Doctor (Paediatrician, Neurologist and GP) to aid continuity across the services.

3)      The service provides assistance with applications for DLA, and applications to charitable organisations etc.

4)      Clients who require non-urgent advice can leave a message on the service answerphone, which is usually answered within 24 hours Monday to Friday. The telephone number is: 07917232005
