Our older people’s mental health inpatient services cater to adults aged over 65 facing functional mental illnesses across Doncaster, Rotherham, and North Lincolnshire. These conditions encompass various mental health disorders, including but not limited to:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • psychosis
  • phobias
  • dementias
  • disorders related to brain degeneration

How we can help

Specific inpatient services are available in different regions:

  • Doncaster, Windermere Lodge.
  • Rotherham, the Woodlands unit, comprising the Glade and the Brambles wards.
  • North Lincolnshire, Laurel ward at Great Oaks mental health unit.

These facilities offer specialised care tailored to the unique needs of older individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Offers services for patients experiencing acute mental health issues, providing a safe and stabilising environment for those in crisis, whether detained under the mental health act or voluntarily seeking care. These acute wards cater to patients requiring a high level of care and support when the community setting is not suitable for treatment.

How to get help

Doncaster older people’s mental health inpatient services

Self-referrals are not accepted, patients are referred through the Patient Flow team.

Rotherham the Woodlands

Not a self-referral service, referrals are usually received from other teams or healthcare professionals.

North Lincolnshire Great Oaks mental health unit

Referrals accepted from healthcare professionals like GPs. In crisis situations, patients can make self-referrals by calling 08000 804899.

Wards are open every day:

  • 2pm to 4.30pm
  • 5:30pm to 8pm

If you are unable to visit at these times, arrangements can be made for you to visit at other times. If this is required, please speak with the nurse in charge on the ward to arrange this

Where possible, we ask that you telephone the ward after 11am, to allow staff time to help patients with washing or dressing and breakfast
