Consent to Care and Treatment Policy

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust Policy for Consent to Care and Treatment

The purpose of this policy is to set out the standards and procedures within the Trust to enable staff to be compliant with the requirements/guidance on consent.  While this document is primarily concerned with healthcare, social care colleagues should also be aware of their obligations to obtain consent before providing certain forms of social care interventions, such as those that involve touching the patient or client. This policy also incorporates guidance that is relevant to patients detained under the MHA where consent is required.
