Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) are honoured to have been shortlisted for the Trust of the Year Award at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2026, recognising work done to co-produce care with our communities, shorten waiting times, and address poverty.
Health Service Journal editor Alastair McLellan adds;

“We can’t wait to welcome our finalists to the awards ceremony in November and to recognise and applaud such impressive achievements across the sector. The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on 19 November 2026.
Over 1300 entries have been received for this year’s Awards, with 231 projects and individuals reaching the final shortlist. Following a thorough judging process, RDaSH was shortlisted, ahead of the official awards ceremony to be held in November for “Nurturing the Power in our Communities”, the trust’s mission since 2023.
Judges were impressed by the move to deliver a typically four week wait, to retain financial balance in the trust, to address out of area placements, but especially by work to sit alongside communities and to take practical steps to tackle poverty. The trust has recognised that these are long-term goals, and there is much more to do.
RDaSH Chief Executive, Toby Lewis commented:
“Being shortlisted for Trust of the Year by the Health Service Journal Awards is a tribute not only to the hard work of students, staff and volunteers across the organisation, but to our partnership with our communities. Just this year we have introduced our Communities’ Leadership Executive, giving sixteen local voluntary sector organisations a direct say in our work and the ability to hold us to account on behalf of local people.
“Over the past three years, we have worked hard to deliver on the promises we made to local people, of which aim to deliver all 28 by the end of 2028. As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are committed to supporting our staff to thrive at work and to tackle the stigma of low pay and exclusion.
He added:
“Whatever the outcome on the night, we are really proud to be recognised and to look forward to learning from others what we can bring to North Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire to improve further the quality of our care.”
RDaSH Chief Executive, Toby lewis shared a video message about what this recognition means for the trust.
The event not only reflects the Health Service Journal Awards’ enduring ethos of “sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and innovating drivers of better service” but will also serve as a timely and well-deserved thank you to the sector.
The awards’ judging panel was once again made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, as well as a range of esteemed board level executives from NHS trusts across the UK.
