The respiratory specialist nursing and home oxygen review service offers care to patients diagnosed with respiratory conditions, either in their homes or nearby settings.
How we can help
We provide various forms of assistance for patients with diagnosed respiratory conditions:
- assessing the patient’s health, social, and psychological needs
- educating patients and caregivers about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and its management
- offering guidance on weight, exercise, nutrition, alcohol consumption, medications, and overall wellbeing
- educating and advising on early symptom recognition for exacerbations and infection management
- developing self-management plans
- providing advice on effective coughing techniques, energy conservation, and relaxation methods
- ensuring appropriate inhaled therapy for individual patient needs
- offering support for smoking cessation
- assessing suitability for pulmonary rehabilitation
- providing capillary blood gas testing services at patients’ homes
- reviewing all patients currently prescribed with oxygen therapy
- offering advice, education, and support to primary care clinicians and other healthcare professionals
