St John’s counselling

Located in Doncaster.

The counselling service supports individuals with a life-limiting illness and their families, offering high-quality, personalised care that addresses emotional, physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. It aims to empower individuals and carers by providing tailored support.

How we can help

Counselling takes place in a private, confidential setting where a counsellor helps clients explore difficulties such as distress, dissatisfaction, or a loss of direction and purpose. The service offers a range of counselling including:

  • bereavement counselling
  • one-to-one counselling
  • family counselling
  • couple counselling as appropriate

It aims to support individuals in making choices, creating change, or reducing confusion, without giving advice or directing a specific path.

Counsellors offer a non-judgmental space to help patients process overwhelming emotions like anger, anxiety, grief, and embarrassment, providing insight and understanding.

Non-urgent advice: How to get help

The counselling service is confidential and is offered to patients over the age of eighteen who are:

  • patients with cancer or a life limiting condition
  • carers, family members, friends, and children of patients with cancer or a life limiting condition

To accommodate different needs, appointments are available face-to-face, by phone, or online.
