NHS Talking Therapies
NHS Talking Therapies is a service in Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire
Talking Therapies provide treatment to adults who are struggling with symptoms of common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and stress. We are here to support you to manage your mental health and improve your wellbeing.
Some of the common symptoms of mental health conditions can include:
- low mood, feeling tearful
- worrying frequently
- no longer doing things you used to enjoy
- isolating yourself
- sleeping for longer than usual, or struggling with sleep
- feeling irritable or frustrated
How we can help
Talking Therapies offer a range of different treatments which can take place on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting, whichever suits you best. We also offer support for adults living with long-term health conditions and who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress.
We can help through a range of mental health therapies:
- cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- counselling for depression
- couples therapy for depression
- eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing
- interpersonal therapy
- guided self-help
- group therapy

Who we can help
Talking Therapies can support adults who are experiencing symptoms of the following conditions:
Do
- depression
- general anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety
- stress
- panic
- phobias
- obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- body dysmorphic disorder
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Don't
- do not treat patients who are a risk to themselves (please contact crisis support for help)
- do not treat psychotic symptoms
- do not treat cognitive impairment or problems with cognitive functioning
- do not treat anorexia or moderate to severe eating disorders
- do not treat anger management
- do not provide addiction support
- do not treat patients engaging in psychological therapy elsewhere (unless for distinctly different problems)
- do not treat patients who do not have GP registration in Doncaster, Rotherham or North Lincolnshire
- do not treat severe learning disabilities
How to get help
We offer fast-tracked assessments and treatment if you are:
- currently pregnant or have a child under 24 months
- part of the armed forces family and your symptoms are related to your time served
Appointments can be in person, over the phone, on video call or done through text messaging via an app.
