The St John’s day therapy unit supports patients with life-limiting conditions by improving quality of life and managing symptoms. Through guided activities and connections with others, we help you achieve personal goals and enhance wellbeing.
How we can help
The St John’s day therapy unit offers a range of sessions, and during your initial assessment, we will help determine the best options for you. Sessions are typically in group settings, though one-to-one sessions may be arranged when needed. They can be full or half-day sessions or in a clinic-style format.
Depending on the sessions you attend, you may have access to:
- peer support and socialising
- a range of activities supported by our activity coordinator
- self-management education sessions
- exercise classes
- one-to-one assessments and support
- complementary therapies or hairdressing (mainly free of charge, with a small fee for certain treatments)
- offer of complementary therapies or hairdressing (free of charge apart from a small charge for certain treatments)
- referrals to other services
- a variety of information resources
- lunch (if appropriate) and refreshments, all provided free of charge
Non-urgent advice: How to get help
Your GP, specialist nurse, or district nurse can refer you to the service. Please discuss it with them if you’d like a referral.
